Q. What are FAQ's?
A. FAQ, standing for Frequently Asked Questions, is a section that displays the question, and then the answer to said question. Can't get much simpler than that!
Q. How do I get a web site?
A. Getting a web site is easy. With TDWebDesign, we make it even easier. Just tell us what your web site will be about and then we setup the hosting, domain name and layout of your web site. We provide several demo versions of your site for you to decide on the final product and then the site is launched with static, or dynamic content depending on your needs!
Q. What is a hosting account and do I need one?
A. A hosting account gives you the ability to "host" web sites on the internet. The hosting package gives you various options on database, storage space, E-mail access, and internet traffic limitations. If you choose TDWebDesign, we will provide FREE hosting on our shared hosting account with Canada-Com for a pre-determined length of time. This means you do not need a hosting account. However, if you prefer, you can use your own hosting account for your web site!
Q. What is a Domain Name and do I need one?
A. A domain name is the simple address or URL that you enter into your web browser to visit a web site. This is usually the same or similar to your business name, such as www.TDWebDesign.ca. In order for your web site to be accessible by the public, you will require a domain name.
Q. How long do I have to wait before my web site is complete?
A. It really depends on your needs and web site. Some basic web sites can be up and running in less than 24 hours, but this is rare. More intricate web sites that have a lot of dynamic (constantly changing) content can take close to 2 or 3 weeks to complete. Some web sites are always a "work in progress" even after the final project is launched on the internet. This option can be discussed further later.
Q. I already have a web site, but I would like a redesign. Will you help me?
A. I would be very happy to help you redesign your existing web site. Depending on what you are looking for, such as dynamic content, your hosting account may require at least one database and/or server-side programming such as PhP files. However, if your web site was built under contract with another web design firm, you may be tied to this other company until the contract expires. This may cause a conflict of interest between myself and the other designer(s). Please check your contract before contacting us.
Q. What is a database?
A. A database is a section of a web site, normally hidden from view, where content on your web site can be stored. A database is very useful for storing constantly changing information, photos, product information, and even allows you to create a custom user-based web site.
Q. What is Server-Side programming?
A. This is simply a computer language that compiles everything for a web site including database, external files and any additional calculations, puts all of this together and sends it to your web browser for you to see. Having server-side programming allows you to create a fully customizable web site that changes constantly.
Q. How much does a web site cost?
A. It really depends on your needs and the web site you have in mind. Please use my contact page to get a quote and include as much information about your project as you can.
Q. Okay, I'm ready to get a web site. How do I contact TDWebDesign?
A. It's easy! As long as you have an E-mail address or phone number, please head over to my contact page here and fill out the applicable information and a brief message. I will get back to you as soon as possible
